A message for all of our valued clients:
In response to the COVID-19 situation, Cocoa Veterinary Hospital (CVH) and Port St John Veterinary Hospital (PSJVH) are taking the following actions to assure the safety and well being of all employees, clients, and the community. Our aim is to remain open for business in order to provide the necessary and best available services and care for our clients and patients while keeping our staff and community safe.
When scheduling appointments and surgeries over the telephone, and when checking in clients at the front desk, our employees will be asking you – the client – if you are COVID-19 symptom and exposure free. If not, we ask that you refrain from coming into our facility. If you are symptom and exposure free, please come into our hospital as usual but avoid close distances and physical contact with staff and other clients. If you are symptom and exposure free but you prefer for our staff to come to your vehicle to bring your pet into our facility, we will gladly do so. If you are ill, or have symptoms or exposure to COVID-19; please find an alternative person to bring your pet into our hospital or call us so we can help determine the best course of action for you and your pet.
All CVH and PSJVH employees will be exercising the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene inside our facilities. All employees will refrain from touching another person – co-workers and clients – and we will wipe down all phones, computer keyboards, tables, chairs, cages, and counters before and after every usage with a healthcare grade disinfectant. All employees will wash their hands before and after each patient and multiple times throughout the day.
We ask all employees and clients to self monitor their health conditions and if any symptoms of respiratory illness are accompanied by fever, we request that you not come into either facility until you are fever free without fever reducing medicine for at least 24 hours. Any employee or client diagnosed with COVID-19 or with exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case should not come into either facility. Any exposed or diagnosed individual should follow the advice of their primary care provider and the local County Health Department and they should self-quarantine at home for 14 days and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) are providing continual updated information on the COVID -19 situation in relations to veterinary practices. While studies are ongoing, there is no evidence at this time that any animals, including pets, livestock, and wildlife, might be a source of COVID-19 infection in the United States. However, because all animals can carry germs that can make people sick, it is always important to practice healthy habits around pets and other animals. Always wash your hands after handling animals, their food, waste, or supplies. Practice good pet hygiene and clean up after pets appropriately. Bring your pets into our hospital regularly to discuss your pet’s health and overall care with our veterinarians. We are here for you and your pet!
Thank you very much for your continued support of Cocoa Veterinary Hospital and Port St John Veterinary Hospital. Our clients and patients are of utmost importance to us. We will continue to monitor the guidance of the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control, and the local authorities in the coming weeks and months. Our decisions and actions will always be made with safety and well being of our staff, clients, and community as the top priority, while continuing to provide the best possible service and care for our clients and patients as our goal.
Stay safe and Keep in touch!
